Hi, I’m Elena!
I have a university background in languages, with a Master’s degree in Linguistic and Cultural Studies.
I adore literature in all its forms and manifestations and have always been an avid reader. Thanks to my collaboration with small publishing houses from both the Italian and international literary scenes, my professional experiences have mainly focused on literary translation.
Currently, I work at the Linguistic Centre of a university in Italy, and in my spare time, I still enjoy dedicating myself to translations, particularly of children’s and young adult books.
Since 2012, I have been translating from English and Spanish into Italian, my mother tongue. I have also lived in several other European countries, such as England, Austria, and southern Spain…
Regarding the art of translation, I have always believed in what the writer Anthony Burgess once said,
“Translation is not a matter of words only: it is a matter of making intelligible a whole culture.”
Living abroad has been an invaluable asset. It is only in this way that I have been able to truly understand the culture of those places and preserve every nuance of the original texts in my translations.
